The city of Goiania is in the Central western Region of Brazil and, together with its surrounding metropolitan area, has a population of just over 2 million. The city was a designed city, founded in October 1933, and boasts the second largest green area in the world. It has its own racecourse, although this is less well known than Cidade Jardim or Sao Vincente.
